AEROGEL
This video crossed my path earlier this week. I thought it was amazing so I took a look at its applications. Apparently, this material can be found in:
- Insulation of windows and semi transparent roofs
- Squash and Tennis rackets
- A thickening agent for paints and cosmetics
- Aerogel Blankets
- Cleaning up of oil spills (Apparently, not good enough for BP)
- Electrochemical double layer supercapacitors (Whatever those may be)
The main use of this material seems to be insulation. If next Christmas is going to be as cold as the last one, I know what I want from Santa in 2011!
